| i got back from a very relaxing vacation in maine on sunday, but i have to start school tommorow. eh. i got good classes this year, but my religions in world cultures teacher is a devout christian, an asshole, and a jesus look alike, wheras im an atheist and hate religious extremists. while i was gone lots of important things happened in lebanon and europe, but what did the news networks find more important? a little white girl who got killed 10 years ago. really, why do people give a shit about that? thousands of children in the third world die every day, but somehow a little white girl from the suburbs is a far more important matter than that. the people of lebanon and israel were having the shit bombed out of them, but instead of alerting the world to the madness of both sides, the news networks decided to drop everything and cover stupid crap like jonbenet ramsey. i had grown to expect this from fox news, but apparently cnn is not above pulling crap like this. cnn used to be a good reliable source of news, but now almost all mainstream media is corporate and full of crap. cnn has become the news equivalent of a 2 dollar whore who does anything to make money, even selling its soul to the almighty corporate pimp. isnt that a nice image? i'll continue this rant later when i have more time to write. i have to go take care of some stuff then go to bed.

| Another update that I dont feel like writing, but have been to lazy to do it until now. Some cool (and not so cool) stuff has happened with my summer, like going to warped tour and getting hassled by cops. And the middle east is about to destroy itself. I dont have the energy to write down all of it and tie it together in one big thing, so I'll just do it in a list.
Stuff that happened:
-Warped Tour- I went with Chris back in June to what I expected would be a fairly mediocre music festival that turned out to be really awsome. We both thought it would be almost exclusively emo bands and other assorted crap, but in the end the good bands far outwieghed all the emo kids and bad music. For most of the first half of the festival we just went around to all the booths and watched a dude with a prosthetic leg skateboard on the halfpipe. Then around 4:00 we saw Rise Against, which was totally awsome. for the rest of the day we went saw Anti-Flag, NoFX, and some other bands which were all excellent. But Anti-Flag was the best. So it was a very cool experience, but i was sore for about a week because of all the moshing and crowdsurfing.
-Israel/Lebanon- Shit is really messed up over there. That's basically all there is to say. And it sucks because there arent any good guys in that fight. The Israeli government oppresses the Palestinians, but groups like Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorists. That could also be said about the Israeli government which is bombing the hell out of Lebanon, resulting in huge civilian casualties. On one hand you have the Israeli government which is oppressive and kills civilians, and on the other hand you have Hamas ando ther groups that suicide bomb civilian targets and fire mass rocket attacks into Israeli cities and kibutzes. One of the kibutzes that my family has friends on was hit twice by hezbollah rockets, but I dont think there were any casualties. The best solution, though it is pretty unrealistic would be for both sides to just shut the hell up and chill out.
-Cops- Chris came to my house 2 days ago because we were planning on doing some stuff, but those plans were delayed by the idiocy of the Raleigh Police Department. Around 1:00 we took my airsoft gun to broughton track to shoot at some targets, and on our way back someone in the neighborhood saw us with the gun. By coincidence, that person's windshield had been smashed in the morning, and they assumed that we shot it out (which is a physical impossibility that i will explain later). So about 10 minutes after we got home, 3 cop cars rolled up and the 4 cops came to my door and accused us of shooting the windshield out. We explained to them that it was impossible for us to have done it for 2 reasons:
1) There is no possible way that my airsoft gun could break a windshield. It fires small .20g plastic bb's at only 280 feet per second. even if i was firing steel ball bearings i couldnt have done it because windshields are constructed so that it takes something very large and forceful to shatter them.
2) They that the windshield was smashed in the morning, but Chris didn't get to my house until 12:00 and i was alseep until 11:15.
I understand that if someone files a police report then the cops have to check it out, but 4 cops is really excessive. And i proved to them in 5 minutes that we had nothing to do with it, but they still put us in their database. And they say a detective might want a follow-up interview. I wish for once they would'nt follow procedure in a way that would benefit someone. Usually when the cops don't follow procedure it involves beating someone, planting evidence, or some other deviousness. On that note, I'm changing the music back to Cop Killer*. enjoy.
*I don't actually think you should go out and kill cops. Subvert them, but one should always exhaust all nonviolent options before we even consider violence.
update: I'm going to Main next week until the 20 something of august so there probably wont be any updates until then.
yeah, and I deleted Yancey's (GibsonSGman) comment because it was bullshit. It's true that some sort of structure is required to maintain order and whatnot, but we don't need idiot dickhead cops. As to what he said about gangs coming to my house and killing my family if there were no cops, i think thats bullshit too. In many ways cops start crime by opressing minorities and keeping them in poverty. If you really want to stop gang violence and other sorts of crimes, you go for the source of it all, which is poverty. If we instituted progressive reforms to stop the vicious cycle of poverty in Americ there would be no need for people to sell drugs or kill others for money. But all that is for another entry, and I dont feel like going into another rant today. So fuck cops.

| im really lazy and havent updated in about 2 weeks... i have some stuff i was going to post, but im too lazy to do it. as jed would say, "i'm doing nothing and it's everything i've always wanted". ill write more stuff later.

| the senate just started having special hearings to examine violence and other "innapropriate" stuff in video games, which is totally messed up. theyre puting a special focus on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (one of the greatest games ever) because of its extremely violent content. videogame violence does not turn people into murderers or rapists or any other sort of criminal. if someone says that a video game made them kill another person, they must have some preexisting mental disorder that would lead them to kill regardless of whether they played video games or not. i believe that violent video games are a good thing because they can help us relieve stress, much like punching a pillow or something like that. but unlike punching a pillow to relieve your anger, with a video game you can shoot a cop in the face or beat down a nazi. there were times when i was really depressed so i just sat on my couch and played grand theft auto and i felt alot better. the government is trying to make it harder than it already is for me to obtain M rated games when it could be doing much more important things like raising the minimum wage, which it just refuased to do.

| i woke up today in a pretty good mood because its summer break and i have no work to do, but that got ruined when i was surfing the internet and found out that the south-central urban farm in Los Angeles was raided by the police and all the occupants were evicted. the urban farm is a 14 acre piece of land in los angeles that has been used to grow crops for needy people in the area since 1992. in 2003, the owner of the land decided to stop leasing i to the farmers and sold it to a developer who wants to put up commercial property on the farm. now that he owns the land, he decided to bulldoze the entire farm, thereby destroying the only source of food for many families. even after an offer to buy the land for $16 million, he is set on destroying the farm. when an eviction order was issued last month, 40 protesters camped there in order to resist the destruction of the farm. despite the resistance of the farmers, hundreds of police officers in riot gear moved in on the farm, but were delayed for 8 hours when protesters chained themselves to stationary objects such as trees, picnic tables, and barrles filled with concrete. now that the farmers are evicted and the farm is bulldozed, hundreds of people will go hungry because one man had to have his real estate development. even though the farm is gone, the farmers are going to fight on in the courts. they have very good legal grounds to challenge the bulldozing and destruction of private property, so hopefully this will not be the end of the south central urban farm. you can help the farmers by telling other people about their situation, and if you live in los angeles you can contact your representatives or judges. or better yet, do anything you can to subvert the LAPD. key their cars, slash their tires, or any other type of direct action that will cost them time and money or just piss them off. and no matter where you live, dont cooperate with the police. the cop's authority is based on your respect and fear of him. if you dont respect or fear him, he has very little power. if you havent committed a crime and you know your rights, then the cop can't do shit to you. even if you have committed a crime, he has little power if you can cover it up well. when i say that, im not talking about murder or rape or anything evil like that, im talking about minor crimes that can be a form of direct action such as vandalism, sabotage, and trespassing. if you dont want to commit crimes, then all you have to do to resist the police is not cooperate with them. they rely on your voluntary cooperation, and if you dont want to cooperate then you dont have to. there is no law or rule that compels you to talk to the police. they would like you to believe that you have to talk to them, but you dont. if the police try to talk to you, just tell them you dont want to talk. especially if you or a friend has committed a crime. dont think you can talk your way out of it or fool the cops either. sometimes you can, but most police officers are not as stupid as we think. many cops are smart, smooth-talking, and good at what they do. they will trick you into giving them information or thinking that they're on your side. thats why you should never talk to them. if you dont talk to them, they cant get you unless they have good evidence that you have committed a crime. always remember that the police are not your friends. in most cases they are not interested in helping you (especially if your a minority), they are interested in getting information that you may not want them to have. fuck the police.
